Acupuncture is an aspect of Traditional Chinese Medicine that uses needles to help restore the body back to a state of balance. Acupuncture can be used to treat acute and chronic health issues in addition to overall wellness and health optimization.
Acupuncture points are located all over the body and are carefully selected based on your TCM diagnosis. Acupuncture needles interact with your nervous system and will help your body “reset” by reducing pain and inflammation, improving blood and Qi circulation, regulating hormones and improving organ function.
The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends acupuncture as an effective treatment for over forty medical problems, including allergies, respiratory conditions, gastrointestinal disorders, nervous conditions, fertility, etc. It is an effective and low-cost treatment for headaches and chronic pain associated with back injuries and arthritis.

The philosophy is to augment the healing powers of the body and cure the underlying cause of disease. The symptoms of disease are often seen as warning signals of improper functioning of the body and poor lifestyle habits.

Naturopathic treatments can be used to treat both acute and chronic conditions. Treatments are chosen based on the individual patient’s physiological, structural, psychological, social, spiritual, environment and lifestyle factors. In addition to diet and lifestyle changes, natural therapies may be used during treatments. These include the following:

Clinical nutrition
Botanical medicine
Homeopathy
Hydrotherapy
Naturopathic manipulation

Amanda Barone is a Registered Acupuncturist with the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner’s and Acupuncturists of Ontario (CTCMPAO). Growing up as a competitive athlete lead her to have a constant fascination with the human body and how it functions. This inspired her to enroll in the Kinesiology and Health Sciences program at York University. Upon graduation, she continued her studies at the Toronto School of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TSTCM) and graduated with a Diploma in Acupuncture. It was here that she learned the intricate relationship between a person’s physical, emotional and spiritual health and the impact this has on one’s overall health and wellness.

By performing a thorough assessment and health history, Amanda is able to identify key areas of dysfunction in her patients. Her goal is to look at the “big picture” and figure out the exact cause of a person’s pain or disease and to determine any other contributing factors. With a combination of acupuncture, exercise and lifestyle recommendations, Amanda works with her patients to help them achieve their health goals. She believes in creating a strong patient-practitioner relationship and focuses a lot of attention on educating her patients on different self-care techniques they can utilize such as acu-pressure, meditation, breathing exercises and creating a ‘sleep sanctuary.’

Amanda is also a Registered Kinesiologist with the College of Kinesiologists of Ontario (CKO). As an added benefit to her patients, she incorporates stretching and strengthening exercises into her treatment plans as well as education about proper posture and movement patterns. Amanda is an active member of the Ontario Kinesiology Association (OKA).

Amanda is certified in Acudetox through the National Acupuncture Detox Association (NADA). This is a treatment protocol used to help people overcome behavioural health issues including addictions, mental health and coping with disaster and emotional trauma. Amanda most commonly uses Acudetox in the clinic to help people successfully quit smoking.

Amanda is also trained in Medical Acupuncture after completing the Contemporary Medical Acupuncture course at McMaster University. She integrates a unique combination of both Eastern and Western styles of Acupuncture into her treatments. This allows her to draw on various types of training in order to yield the best clinical results.

Amanda has a special interest in treating infertility, insomnia and digestive disorders. Amanda is constantly taking courses to improve and advance her clinical skill and knowledge. She continuously learns new acupuncture and healing techniques in order to provide her patients with the most up-to-date and effective treatments available.

Kayla Booker, R.Ac. is a licensed and board-certified Acupuncturist, now accepting new clients for acupuncture appointments. She graduated with honours from the Acupuncture program at Georgian College and has pursued advanced certifications to deepen her practice, including training in Advanced Cosmetic Acupuncture through the Ontario College of Traditional Chinese Medicine (OCTCM). Rooted in the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), her approach emphasizes whole-body wellness and individualized care. Kayla takes the time to understand each patient’s health history, identify patterns of imbalance, and create personalized treatment plans that address both the root causes and symptoms of health concerns.

Her practice includes Restorative Bodywork treatments, which focus on promoting muscular and connective tissue health, improving circulation, and fostering overall physical relaxation. These sessions integrate therapies such as cupping, tuina massage, and body gua sha. Cupping uses gentle suction to increase circulation, relieve muscle tension, and support the body’s natural healing processes. Tuina massage is a therapeutic form of Chinese massage that targets specific areas to improve mobility, release tight muscles, and restore balance to the body. Body gua sha involves scraping techniques applied to muscles and fascia to stimulate circulation, reduce tension, and enhance recovery from strain or overuse. These restorative sessions are ideal for anyone experiencing stress, chronic tension, athletic strain, or simply looking to support overall wellness.

Kayla has a special interest in sports medicine, focusing on rehabilitation, injury prevention, and performance optimization. Her background in fitness and rehabilitation informs her clinical approach. Since participating in the 5K MudGirl 2021 event, she has embraced strength training and gained firsthand experience with injury recovery and performance setbacks, inspiring a passion for helping active individuals move more efficiently and safely.

Looking ahead, Kayla plans to offer Cosmetic Acupuncture treatments in 2026, combining full-body acupuncture with specialized facial acupuncture and facial gua sha. These sessions are designed to improve skin health, restore balance, enhance circulation, and leave clients feeling relaxed, radiant, and revitalized from head to toe. It’s a holistic approach that blends aesthetic care with the benefits of traditional Chinese medicine, making it a treatment to look forward to for both wellness and natural beauty.

Whether clients are recovering from physical strain, navigating a high-performance training schedule, or simply looking to move through daily life with more ease. Kayla meets them where they are with care that is supportive, personalized, and rooted in the wisdom of TCM. She is committed to ongoing professional development and continues to explore both classical and modern approaches to acupuncture, empowering every client on their journey toward long-term health.
